When devotees across the State were immersed in the celebrations of Navratri and conducting ‘Kanya Bhoj’ at their homes considering the girls as replicas of Maa Durga, a shocking news surfaced from Bhopal where two minor sisters, aged one and eight years, were abducted by two women on the pretext of Kanya Bhoj. The incident took place in Talaiya locality outside the curfew Mata Mandir near the police post. It’s CCTV footage has also been surfaced, on the basis of which the police is searching for them. According to the police, the incident took place on Saturday at around 10 am when mother of both the missing sisters was sitting outside temple located in Peergate area along with her daughters. Then two women came near them and said that we have to organise a Kanya Bhoj at our home and requested to sent both her daughters along with them. After feeding them, they will leave them back here. After this both the women left with the girls. However, when the girls did not return till night, the family reached the police station and lodged a police complaint.
After being informed, police teams raided some places on Sunday in search of the girls. Police personnel also managed to get CCTV grab of incident which was scanned after the incident in which a woman is seen carrying a small girl in her lap whereas another woman present at a short distance held the hand of the elder sister. The girls’ father Mukesh Adivasi told police, “We are native of Ratlam and with his family came to Bhopal a month ago to work as a labourer. Presently, I am living in Barela village of Lalghati. I have four children, elder daughter Kajal (8), son Sandeep (5), Sona (3) and Deepawali, 11 months old. My youngest daughter was born on Deepawali festival therefore we kept her name Deepawali. Her birthday is next month. My wife Lakshmi and sister have been begging for several days near the temple at Peergate. They used to get food there during festivals.” “Like everyday, on Saturday morning my wife along with both daughters named Kajal and Deepawali went to the temple with Kajal and Diwali. It must have been around 10 o’clock when a woman approached my wife. She said that Navratri is underway and she has to organise a Kanya Bhoj at home. I will feed them and leave them here.
My wife trusted them and agreed to take both the girls along. When the woman did not come after waiting for a long time, they started searching for the missing girls. In the evening, my wife called me at around 7 o’clock. I immediately reached Peergate and gave information about the incident at the police post there.” Police have registered a case on the complaint of family members late at night. The location of the women has been seen in CCTV cameras till Ret Ghat. Their location beyond here has not been found. However, the police raided a flat in Platinum Plaza early Sunday morning in search of the girls. At present, no trace of the girls has been found here. DCP Riyaz Iqbal said that five teams, including Talaiya police station and Crime Branch, are busy in search of both the missing girls. The women are being searched on the basis of the CCTV footage.
