A HOTELIER-CUM-PROPERTY dealer was shot dead by a real estate agent at the former’s Al-Kareem Guest House at Mehrunnisa Complex near Rehman Chowk, Mominpura, in the small hours on Wednesday. Within minutes, the news about the murder of Jamil Ahmed (52) at the reception lounge on the ground floor of his own guest house spread like jungle fire in the area. Hundreds of residents, his family members, relatives and his well-wishes gathered in front of the building. Staff from Tehsil Police Station and a team of Crime Branch rushed to the spot on being informed about the incident and launched a manhunt for the suspect Mohammad Pervez Mohammad Harun (24) and two of his accomplices after collecting all details about the sensational murder.

Jamil Ahmed, who stays on the top floor of his guest house, was also a property dealer. He along with Mohammad Pervez had a dispute over financial transactions after a property was sold through them to a person. Around 1.30 am, Jamil Ahmed was sitting at the reception counter of his guest house. Abdul Majid Aktar, who also works at the guest house, too, was with him. Suddenly, Mohammad Pervez and two of his accomplices stormed into the reception lounge. He picked up an argument with Jamil Ahmed over the financial transactions. This followed by a brawl between Jamil Ahmed and Mohammad Pervez. After heated exchanges between them for 10-15 minutes, Mohammad Pervez took out a pistol and shot at Jamil Ahmed. The bullet pierced through head and was killed instantaneously. Homahhad Pervez and his accomplices fled the spot.

Guest house worker Abdul Majid Akhtar raised an alarm. Family members of Jamil Ahmed, including his wife Nahida (47), rushed to the reception lounge and were shocked to find the body lying on the ground with blood oozing out from the bullet injury. Cops sent the body to Mayo Hospital for autopsy and registered a case of murder under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and Arms Act at Tehsil Police Station. Senior Inspector Vinod Patil, In-Charge of Tehsil Police Station, told ‘The Hitavada’ that separate teams have been fanned out in search of Mohammad Perved and two of his accomplices. “Police will soon nab the accused and put them behind bars,” he expressed confidence.
Meanwhile, sources informed that a team of Crime Branch visited Chandrapur and took three suspects into custody on suspicion.
