Despite serious advice and instructions from the Union Home Minister Amit Shah during his visit to the city recently, internal conflicts within the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) continue. On Sunday, party’s District President Prabhat Sahu resigned from the post, stating those who were involved in vandalism at the party office were introduced to the Home Minister during his sojourn to the city, on Saturday. It may be noted that Union Home Minister Amit Shah is currently on a visit to Madhya Pradesh. Meanwhile, internal conflicts have emerged within the city BJP. District President Prabhat Sahu, on Sunday organised a press conference and made announcement regarding his resignation from the post. Sahu said, “Those who were involved in vandalising the party office on October 21 were introduced to Amit Shah, despite the fact that action was supposed to be taken against them. I have been made a scapegoat for the incident. I am deeply hurt.” However, Sahu also mentioned that he will continue working for the party as a worker.
He said, “I have been associated with the party since 1980. I have witnessed many ups and downs during my 43-year journey. When I was appointed as the District President, some people tried to create a hostile environment against me.” It may be noted that Union Minister Amit Shah held a division-level meeting in Jabalpur on Saturday to address the situation. Furthermore, on Saturday night in Bhopal, Shah conducted a meeting with party leaders and urged them to appease disgruntled workers. He also stated that if necessary, he would personally communicate with them. During the press conference Sahu, without openly naming Deeraj Pateria, whose supporters had reportedly created scenes at party divisional office, said the party had favoured those against whom action was supposed to be taken for the incident of vandalism that took place at the party’s divisional office on October 21. Sahu said the move has left him deeply hurt.
It may be mentioned that there was opposition to the party’s decision to field Abhilash Pandey from Jabalpur North seat. In protest, workers raised slogans against V D Sharma, State President at party’s divisional office. Central Minister Bhupendra Singh Yadav attempted to pacify them, but the situation escalated to the point where the Minister had to step back. Angry workers even resorted to physical confrontation. Dheeraj Pateria was seeking ticket from the North Jabalpur seat but Pandey has been given ticket. Union Home Minister, Amit Shah met with Dheeraj Pateria on Saturday and they had a discussion for five minutes. Sahu expressed great dissatisfaction over this meeting.
