The 35th convocation ceremony of Rani Durgavati University (RDU) started with chanting of Vedic mantras and convocation procession in presence of Governor of Madhya Pradesh and Chancellor Mangubhai Patel and RDU Vice-Chancellor Professor Kapil Deo Mishra and other dignitaries at the University campus on Thursday. The convocation procession reached Pandit Kunjilal Dubey auditorium where the main programme was inaugurated by Registrar Dr Deepesh Mishra with the Chancellor’s permission. After the welcome speech, Vice-Chancellor Professor Mishra updated the gathering about university’s achievements including quality education, employment and innovations. He proudly shared that the 35th convocation ceremony coincided with the historical occasion of 500th birth anniversary of Gondwana queen Rani Durgavati. As convocation is a golden opportunity when after obtaining degrees students enter into next phase of their lives. Later, head of different faculties were invited to present names of subject-wise gold medalists and degree holders of their respective faculties.
 
A total of 78 candidates, including 84 PhD holders, 1 D.Lit. and 49 students received gold medals during the ceremony. In his convocation address, Governor and Chancellor Mangubhai Patel mentioned about the significance of knowledge about culture and heritage with education for students. Governor Patel said that educational institutes need to pay more attention to make youth culturally rich. As knowledge should be utilised on practical grounds. Indian education system focuses on multi-dimensional progress and character building of students. Extending best wishes to all the degree holders and gold medalists, the Chancellor motivated students to become independent and go ahead on the path of progress. Higher Education Minister Dr Mohan Yadav, who attended the convocation ceremony, through virtual platform, said that since ancient period, India remains the Vishwaguru and always shows the path of spiritual knowledge and philosophy to the world.

The ceremony was especially attended by Vice-Chancellor, Jawaharlal Nehru Agricultural University, Professor P K Mishra, former Chairman, Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission, Professor S P Gautam and Deputy Advocate General, Supreme Court, Veer Vikrant Singh and other eminent guests.
