Congress candidate from West Assembly Tarun Bhanot, on Monday conducted extensive election campaigning in Indira Gandhi Ward. He along with party leader and workers visited Gulao Chowk, Choudhari Mohalla, B T crossing, Anand Kunj, Kevat Mohalla, Ramleela Maidan, Shaheen Bagh and sought people’s support. During the campaigning, Bhanot said despite the representation of BJP in various levels of government, including the Lok Sabha, State Assembly and Municipal Corporation, Jabalpur has faced significant discrimination and neglect in political terms. Bhanot said during COVID-19 pandemic, when major private hospitals in other cities were being took over for free treatment of patients, the citizens of Jabalpur faced crises at local level due to lack of facilities in both private and government hospitals.
They were compelled to travel to Nagpur, Mumbai, Delhi and other cities for medical treatment, risking their lives to save their ailing family members. The pandemic exposed the hollow claims of development in the health sector made by the BJP over the past 18 years. Bhanot said if the Congress party forms the government in the State, efforts will be made to elevate Jabalpur to the category of metropolitan cities, similar to other cities in the state. Additionally, he pledged to gather all necessary resources at the local level. Those participated in the campaigning were Manoj Patkar, Salil Chouseky, Amod Upadhyay, Chipu Sharma, Mohit Pyaasi, Satyendra Pachauri, Radha Vallabh Patel, Manoj Sen and others.
