MOHIT Kale struck an unbeaten hundred and shared an important 145-run stand for the third wicket with Jagjot Sasan as Indian Gymkhana thrashed Medical Representatives Cricket Club (MRCC) by 7 wickets to annex the Guzder League ‘A’ Division One-Day Trophy. In the final, played on Tuesday at the VCA’s Civil Lines Ground, Indian Gymkhana won the toss and their bowlers shot out MRCC for 185. Barring Atharva Taide (48) and Pawan Parnate (40), none of the MRCC batters offered much resistance as Gaurav Dhoble (3-34), Parth Rekhade (3-32) and Harsh Dubey 2-28 shared the spoils.

In spite of losing two early wickets, Kale and Singh (58) refused to be bogged down and attacked the bowling with gusto, paving the way for a splendid victory. Kale’s unbeaten knock of 106 from just 85 balls contained 13 hits to the fence and three over it as he single-handedly helped his side lift title in a low scoring match. On a wicket where other batsmen struggled, he anchored Gymkhana innings after fall of two early wickets. Even after being the best batsman in Bapuna Cup, Kale was ignored for the Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy. In four matches of Guzder League, he scored two centuries and one not out 50 sounding the doors of selection committee for a berth in the Vidarbha’s squad for Vijay Hazare Trophy. Kale was declared the Player of the Match.
