President of India Droupadi Murmu will be the chief guest for 111th convocation of Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU) to be held on December 2, at Nagpur. Dr Subhash Chaudhari, Vice-Chancellor of RTMNU told ‘The Hitavada’, “We had sent our request to Rashtrapati Bhavan seeking the consent of President to remain present at our convocation as chief guest. We received the letter of confirmation. We all are overwhelmed as President will grace the convocation ceremony.” The convocation will be held at the place where Indian Science Congress’ programmes were held which is adjacent to University’s Jamnalal Bajaj Bhavan. President’s presence in the platinum jubilee function of Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) was already confirmed. Against that backdrop, RTMNU too grabbed the opportunity to host President at its convocation.

Now, President will arrive on the afternoon of Friday December 1. She will grace the platinum jubilee function at the Gymkhana ground of GMCH at 4 pm. She will stay at Nagpur. On Saturday, December 2, Murmu will grace the RTMNU convocation ceremony at 10.30 am. Meanwhile, Maharashtra Government’s Department of Skill Employment, Entrepreneurship and Innovation had already scheduled state-wide job fair on December 2 and 3 and the preparedness was reviewed by Ashish Kumar Singh, Additional Chief Secretary recently. Considering the President’s visit, the Department is mulling over either postponing the fair or get it inaugurated at the hands of Murmu. After the receipt of confirmation from Rashtrapati Bhavan about the President’s visit, RTMNU appraised Vijayalaxmi Bidari, Divisional Commissioner.
Admin in a fix over President’s route to GMCH
The administration is a bit confused in deciding the route of President Droupadi Murmu to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) on December 1. The President’s convoy can not be led towards Ajni bridge because of its bad condition. Had Ajni bridge been in a good condition, it could have been easy for the convoy to reach GMCH. Her convoy will reach GMCH via Ring Road. Dean of GMCH, Dr Raj Gajbhiye suggested a route for the President’s convoy. Accordingly, the President’s convoy can take the bridge near Hotel Radisson Blu upto Manewada Square on Ring Road. From there, the convoy can reach Tukdoji Putla Square and then enter Super Speciality Hospital and reach the venue through Super Speciality Hospital premises.
