After the polling process passed off peacefully for all the seven seats of Bhopal constituencies, the electronic voting machines (EVMs) kept in strongrooms under three layered surveillance system backed by cameras. The EVMs kept in strongrooms across the State will be opened on December 3 for counting. “All the machines reached strongrooms by morning of November 18. These strongrooms were locked in presence of candidates, observers and other senior officials,” said the Election Commission. EC further informed that security protocol is being followed and nobody including returning officer is allowed to enter with mobile phone and without due entry in the register. Returning officers and polling team continued to submit the EVMs till 3 am on Saturday.
EVM machines were kept safely in strong room under strict supervision of security guards and CCTV cameras by Saturday 8 am. Polling team kept on returning to the Lal Parade Ground and MVM ground till 8 pm on Friday and they submitted the entire material by Saturday morning. There is vide level of arrangement at both grounds to submit the voting material so that team did not face inconvenience. After submission of EVM, all machines were shifted safely to the strong room situated in Old Prison. District Collector Ashish Singh, BMC Commissioner Nobel Frank A, ADM Prakash Singh Chauhan, Deputy Election Officer Ravishankar Rai and other officials were present on the spot to ensure safety of the EVMs. Armed forced are deployed at strong room to ensure safety of EVMs and CCTV cameras are there.
