Tourists who have come to Pench Tiger Reserve for Diwali holidays in the pleasant weather of the beginning of winter are witnessing fascinating views of the thrilling wildlife. At present, the number of foreign tourists in the park seems to be less, but guides and gypsy drivers are hopeful that after Diwali, the number of foreign and domestic tourists will increase. The number of tourists here increases every year with the falling temperatures of winter. In December-January, most of the tourists reach Pench Park to enjoy the forest walk. Hotel and resort operators have started preparations for this. Tourists come every year to spend moments of relaxation in the light-drenched resort during Diwali. However, this time due to the Code of Conduct for the Assembly elections, the number of Government officials and employees reaching Pench was negligible.
On holidays, 274 tourists visited the forest in 69 gypsy vehicles, which included 35 foreign tourists. On Sunday also, about 300 tourists enjoyed jungle safari in the morning and afternoon sessions. Different thrilling scenes are being seen every day in the safari. During the safari, a photo of a chital cub, which was hunted in Peyothadi area, holding a cub in its mouth while walking on the unpaved road of the forest, is going viral on the social media. According to information, at present, during the safari, tourists can see Bijamatta tigress with four cubs, Paddev tigress with two cubs, Lagddi tigress’s daughter Lakshmi, Bijamatta’s daughter Kala Pahad tigress, apart from L Mark and Swastik male tiger, some of the tourists will also see during the safari.
With the drop in temperature, the effect of cold is being seen in the forest. Wildlife sunbathing in the forest are seen in the plains. It is being estimated that as the cold increases, groups of migratory birds will start arriving in Pench Tiger Reserve. Safari is conducted for tourists on about 116 km of unpaved roads (20 per cent) of the 82.30 square km area of the park core area. Most of the tourists reach Pench through Turia Gate. Day-night safaris have been running in the Telia buffer of Khawasa along with the core area for the last several years.
