A day long training programme on “Production and rejuvenation of declined mandarin orchards” was organised by ICAR-Central Citrus Research Institute, Nagpur in collaboration with ICAR- Research Complex for NEH Region, Umiam at Mawthei village, Umroi, Ri-Bhoi district recently. The training programme was inaugurated by Dr R K Sonkar, Principal Scientist, ICAR-CCRI, Nagpur. Sephrin Kharumnuid, Headman, Mawthei village was guest of honour while Rama Shankar, Director, PGMTD, BSNL, Meghalaya was chief guest. The technical session were conducted by Scientist from ICAR-CCRI, Nagpur Dr R K Sonkar, Dr Evening Stone Marboh, and Scientist from ICAR-RC for NEH Region, Umiam Dr Tasvina R Borah, Dr A Balusamy and Dr Sandip Patra on the topics related to sustainable and quality production technology of Khasi mandarin, soil management, rejuvenation technology, management of insect pest and diseases were covered in the technical session.
 
Field visit was also made by the scientists along with the citrus growers where in an interactive session was also conducted. The 50 numbers of participants were provided with stationaries, bag and secature and they also got the opportunity to know about the different types of citrus fruits cultivated throughout the country. The small fruit show has enriched their knowledge. Dr Evening Stone Marboh, Senior Scientist (Horticulture) translated the discussion and interaction throughout the program and the program concluded with vote of thanks by Dr E S Marboh.
