Bhopal Collector Ashish Singh saw the PUC (Pollution Under Control) system along with the officers on Wednesday. During inspection, he sat on the ground on the roadside at Hoshangabad Road and took information regarding PUC. It has been made mandatory for vehicles which do not have PUC to get the certificate within 15 days. After this, the Collector has given instructions to the officers to take challan action. The Collector first inspected the arrangements for PUC checking at Durga Petrol Pump located at 5 no stop and Petrol Pump located near Polytechnic College. He has instructed all petrol pump operators to maintain PUC checking system at their pumps. In view of the increasing pollution level of Bhopal city, the Collector has given instructions to check the pollution level of vehicles and to take challan action in case of absence of PUC. During this, ADM Harendra Narayan, RTO Sanjay Tiwari, Pollution Control officer and other officials were present.
Following the instructions of Collector Singh, the pollution level of vehicles is being checked. If there is no PUC in commercial vehicles, challan action will be taken. Under which there is a provision for challan up to Rs 5,000. With this, private vehicles are being given 15 days time to get PUC done. After this, challan action will be taken against them also. Action is being taken in view of the deteriorating AQI level of Bhopal city. In Bhopal, PUC certificate will be given free on filling the tank of four-wheeler vehicle with petrol and diesel. This exercise is being done to stop the increasing pollution.
The air quality index (AQI) of the city crossed 300. Currently, it costs Rs 250 for a PUC (Pollution Under Control) certificate for a period of 6 months. At the same time, there is a provision of a fine of Rs 5,000 if the transport vehicle does not have PUC certificate. Whereas Rs 1,000 is charged for non-transport vehicle. It should be mentioned here that with the onset of cold season, the air quality index is continuously increasing in the city. The reason for this is dust flying on the roads, construction work and poisonous smoke emanating from vehicles. Regarding this, Divisional Commissioner Dr Pawan Sharma had called a meeting with the Collector and other officials on Monday. In this, officials were asked to prepare a quick action plan to improve the level of polluted air and implement it immediately.
