An issue of concern arises in AIIMS Bhopal which has turned into a battleground following the conflict between nursing staff and doctors here. With tension escalated to such an extent that senior resident doctors started the strike on Thursday afternoon. All the doctors sat on strike in-front of the IPD gate. Senior doctors are angry with the notice received from AIIMS management. AIIMS has more than 1,200 nursing staff, out of which more than 400 are present outside the campus. However, after assurance from AIIMS management, the protest ended in the night itself. Let us tell you that earlier on Wednesday night, the nursing staff of AIIMS had sat on strike. Angry employees accused the doctors of misbehaviour. It is being told that there was a dispute between the doctor and the nursing staff during the operation on Tuesday afternoon. After this, on the complaint of the doctor, the management gave notice to the nursing staff. The nursing staff expressed displeasure over this.

Nursing staff alleged that doctors often talk rudely to the staff. This happened during the operation at around 12 noon on Tuesday. The staff says that despite getting information about the dispute, Deputy Director (Administration) Colonel Ajit Kumar issued a notice to the nursing staff. He took action without hearing the side of nursing staff. The nursing staff has appealed to AIIMS Director Dr Ajay Singh to intervene. Dr Raghavendra Vidhua is the Member Secretary of the Faculty Association. It is he who has given notice to the nursing staff. He listens only to doctors. Even in the earlier controversies, action was taken only against the nursing staff. The video of the dispute that took place on Tuesday has also surfaced. The video is from the Burn and Plastic Surgery Department of AIIMS, in which some doctors are seen threatening and abusing Nursing Officer Prashant Bhatia.

During this time, the Nursing Officer also made many serious allegations against the department. Bhatia alleged that only the doctors of the Burn and Plastic Surgery department talk to the patients in the worst manner in the hospital. If we consider the staff, it includes three doctors who are the faculty here apart from the Department of Burn and Plastic Surgery. Dr Deepak Krishna, Dr Manal M Khan and Dr Gaurav Chaturvedi misbehaved with the staff. AIIMS Executive Director Dr Ajay Singh said that complaints have been received from both nursing staff and doctors and we have made a probe committee. Appropriate action will be taken based on the report.
