IRA International defeated Kolhapur to emerge champions in Under-17 girls Maharashtra State Hockey Tournament that concluded in Pune. Ira International School won the final 5-4 against Kolhapur that was decided via sudden death.
Ira’s Akshra Awari helped the team tie score 1-1 at end of the regulation time. In the tie-breaker, Ira’s Yashasvi Kubde and Athulya PS scored and it was a tie taking the scores 3-3. In the sudden death, Ira’s Yashasvi and Purva Dhandre converted their attempts to guide the team to a thrilling win. In their way to the title, Ira thumped Nashik team 5-0 and in the semis, they beat Pune’s SNBP 2-1.
