Ordnance Factory Khamaria (OFK) has strengthened its global presence through defence export. OFK is going to export two defence products to the European, African and other countries. The first consignment of 40,000 L-70 ammunition cartridge case will be exported to European Union in December 2023 and equal numbers of ammunition will be delivered by March 2024. Another defence equipment PDM 557 fuse export to the European, African and other countries will be soon taken place for its use with 155 mm ammunition. OFK GM M N Haldar (IOFS) while talking to ‘The Hitavada’ informed that as per the vision of Munitions India Limited (MIL), they are trying to come up from conventional practices and exploring new business avenues to enhance its trade in the open market.
“OFK has obtained export orders of two defence equipment from different countries for supplying PDM 557 fuse for 155 mm ammunition and L-70 ammunitions cartridge case which are likely to be soon supplied to the buyer countries. Increasing defence export will not only make OFK a profitable entity but also boost national economy,” added GM Haldar. He informed that they are currently supplying PDM 572 fuse to the Indian Armed Force which is the advanced version of PDM 557. European and African countries have expressed the desire of old version of PDM 557 for Air Defence System as per their strategic requirement. Research and development of several other ammunitions is underway at OFK for advanced weapons for the national security and increasing defence export of the country.
