SHAHDOL,
IN SHAHDOL, sand mining
mafia crushed a Patwari with
a tractor and he died on the
spot. The incident took place
on the intervening night of
Saturday-Sunday at around 12
o’clock. In the morning the
police arrested the tractor driver.
Devlond Police Station Incharge, Rajkumar Mishra said,
‘Patwari Prasanna Singh, posted at Khadda in Beohari tehsil,
had gone with his three companions to stop the illegal sand
mining going on in the Son river. The team tried to stop a tractor engaged in transporting
sand at the ghat. The driver ran
the tractor over the Patwari and
fled the spot.
Local people said that
after the incident, fellow
Patwaris
informed the
administration. The
dead body
remained
lying on the
ghat throughout the night.
Police reached
the spot on Sunday morning.
On the incident, Congress
State President, Kamal Nath
tweeted and said - This situation has arisen due to corruption and scams that flourished
during the Shivraj government.
A reward of Rs 30,000 was
announced for the accused.
Collector, Vandana Vaidya
said, strict action will be taken against the sand mafia.
Assistance amount will be given to the family members of
Patwari. SP Kumar Prateek said,
a case of murder has been registered. As soon as the information was received, ASP,
Dinesh Chandra Sagar had
announced a reward of Rs
30,000 for the arrest of the
accused. The accused tractor
driver Shubham Vishwakarma
resident of Maihar has been
arrested. The tractor has also
been confiscated.
Illegal mining of sand and
coal is in full swing in Shahdol
district. On Saturday, the
Mineral Department had
seized 250 cubic meters of illegal sand. Sources say that during this period no concrete
action was taken against any
mining mafia.
This is the reason why their morale is very
high. Congress said- Courage
increased due to protection
from the government.

Kamal Nath tweeted on social
media platform This is not the
first time that the sand mafia
in Madhya Pradesh has
crushed a government official
to death in this manner. I pray
to God for the peace of the
departed soul. May God give
his family the strength to bear
this loss. I demand from the
administration that proper
financial assistance should be
provided to the family of the
late Patwari. om Shanti.’
At the same time, Leader of
Opposition in the Assembly,
Dr. Govind Singh said, ‘The law
and order of Madhya Pradesh has collapsed under the rule
of Shivraj Singh. Patwari,
Mining and Forest
Department employees are
being continuously
attacked. Sand mafia, stone
mafia, liquor sellers are
openly committing hooliganism. His courage has
increased so much because
of the protection of the government.
