Holding the Congress ruled Durg Municipal Corporation (DMC) responsible for various problems prevailing in the city, the BJP Corporators on Tuesday staged a protest demonstration outside Mayor Dheeraj Bakliwal’s chamber demanding his resignation. Holding placards in their hands, the protesting BJP workers said that MLA Arun Vora’s defeat is result of people’s anger and it is not only against Vora but instead the mandate is against the entire Mayor in Council of Mayor Dheeraj Bakliwal and hence he should resign on moral grounds. Prior to the protest demonstration in DMC, the BJP Corporators gathered at BJP office and attended a meeting in presence of Leader of Opposition Ajay Verma, his Deputy Devnarayan Chandrakar and former DMC Speaker Dinesh Dewangan.
While holding discussions, the Corporators said that the development works came to a standstill in past four year tenure of Congress in the DMC. They also claimed that former MLA Vora’s defeat is an indication of people’s anger towards congress and honoring the mandate, the Mayor should also resign. They also said that the residents have to even struggle for getting basic amenities and after the meeting, the Corporator went to the DMC and staged protest demonstration. Leader of Opposition Ajay Verma said that after MLA Vora’s defeat, Mayor Bakliwal should resign on moral grounds.
