“The State Government should introspect and address the issues of the youth. The youth belonging to Maratha and Dhangar communities have high aspirations from the Government,” said Sharad Pawar, President of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). He was addressing the Yuva Sangharsh Yatra started by NCP MLA Rohit Pawar that concluded in Nagpur on Tuesday. Speaking further, Pawar stated that a similar rally was led by Mahatma Gandhi and Chandra Shekhar. Shekhar later became the Prime Minister of India. The Yuva Sangharsh Yatra led by Rohit Pawar drew inspiration from both the leaders and has succeeded in uniting the youth. Filling posts in government service, contractual working system, farming based problems are the prime reasons youths have to face today. If the Government fails to address the issues of youth, it will have to face severe consequences, cautioned Pawar. The rally, spread over 32 days, covered 10 districts of Maharashtra travelling a distance of 800 kilometers. Over 2 lakh youth joined the rally in various phases.

Pawar recalled a similar rally that was taken out under his leadership from Jalgaon to Nagpur. The rally was organised to address the issues of farmers. Maharahtra’s first Chief Minister Yeshwantrao Chavan also participated in the rally. “However, we were both put under arrest when we reached Amravati. We had demanded good price for the cotton producing farmers for their produce. The Government had to agree to our terms. Rallies have the power to change the course of history,” mentioned Pawar. Speaking on the occasion, Rohit Pawar observed that the rally was a means to understand people’s problems. Irrespective of the party in power, issues of farmers, youth and common citizens should be addressed. Congress leader Digvijay Singh also joined the Yuva Sangharsh Yatra.

He questioned the functioning of the Central Government stating that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was dividing
people in the country. Singh also raised questions over 2 crore jobs promised by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, contractual appointment of workers in various government departments and false promise to deposit Rs 15 lakh in every citizens’ account. Any machine that has electronic chip can be manipulated, alleged Singh over the functioning of the Electronic Voting Machine (EVM). It is time that I.N.D.I alliance members should unite and the people must elect it to power. NCP leaders Jayant Patil, Anil Deshmukh, Rajesh Tope, Duneshwar Pethe, Ramesh Bang, Prakash Gajbhiye and others were present.
