Door-to-door garbage collection in 205 villages

Under the Swachh Bharat Mission (Rural), work is now being done towards door-to-door garbage collection in villages like cities. So far, door-to-door garbage collection is been done in 205 villages out of 381 villages of the district. Work is being done with the aim of implementing this facility in the remaining villages by the end of this month. To implement the concept of ODF Plus after making the Gram Panchayats open defecation free, action is being taken to make every village clean and beautiful by working on all dimensions of solid and liquid waste management. On one hand, gray and black water management work is being done in Gram Panchayats for safe disposal of dirty water, while on the other hand, various structures have been built for solid waste management for safe disposal of organic and inorganic waste.

To keep the village clean, an awareness campaign is being run to make the villagers aware of the need to dispose of wet and dry waste separately. In which the organic waste is being composted through Nodep and Vermi Compost, on the other hand, for the safe disposal of inorganic waste, through women’s group, garbage is being collected from door to door in every village and the work of separation is being done in the Segregation Workshed. In which income is being earned by separating plastic, rubber, glass and metal waste and selling it to scrap for recycling. Sanitation tax is also being collected by 35 Gram Panchayats to provide honorarium to the sanitation workers. Continuous awareness work is being done to maintain cleanliness in the village through sanitation workers. Under the guidance of the district administration, like cities, door-to-door garbage collection work is being done in every village under the Swachh Bharat Mission (Rural).

At present, approval has been given to construct segregation worksheds for door-to-door garbage collection in all 381 villages of the district. Construction of segregation worksheds has been completed in 315 villages. The work in 66 villages will be completed within the month of December, 2023. Under the Swachh Bharat Mission (Rural), the facility of minimum 02 garbage tricycles in every village has been provided to the sanitation beneficiaries by the Gram Panchayat. In 205 Gram Panchayats, door-to-door garbage collection has been done through sanitary self-help groups.
