Lokayukta Police, Jabalpur trapped an Assistant Engineer of Madhya Pradesh Poorva Kshetra Vidyut Vitran Company (MPPKVVC) while taking bribe of Rs. 60,000 for handing over the completed project 11 KV line and transformer contract from a private contractor, on Monday. The accused has been identified as Shailendra Nath, posted as Assistant Engineer, MPPKVVCL at Sub Division Chhapara in Seoni district. According to Lokayukta Police Jabalpur, an appellant named Kaleem Khan, son of Mohammed Iqubal Khan, a resident of Kanjai village in Seoni district lodged a complaint at office of Superintendent of Police, Lokayukta Jabalpur that he is working as private electricity contractor. He completed the project of laying 11 KV line and power transformer installation at farmers of farmers. After the completion of contract works, he applied for handing over the electricity infrastructure to the MP Poorva Kshetra Vidyut Vitran Company when the Assistant Engineer, Shailendra Nath demanded bribe of Rs 60,000 for signing the file. The assistant engineer told him for handing over the bribe amount of Rs 60,000 to Computer Operator of his office named Mayank Kumar Sahu.
Acting on the complaint, SP, Lokayukta constituted a team and fielded the appellant for collecting evidences. Once the information was confirmed a team of Lokayukta Police Jabalpur trapped the co-accused and accused while taking bribe of Rs 60,000 from the appellant at her office. Lokayukta police have registered a case against the corrupt government employee under relevant Sections of Prevention of Corruption Act while further investigations are underway. The accused was trapped by team led by DSP, Dilip Jharbade comprised of Inspector, Swapnil Das, Sub Inspector, Shishir Pandey and others.
