Bargi police have nabbed an accused and seized 1,500 quarters of country-made liquor amounting to Rs 1.17 lakh in a duster car in Sukri village, on Sunday. The arrested has been identified as Sonam alias Anil Yadav (35), native of Oriya Mohalla in Omti and currently lived as Rajul Town in Gora Bazar. SHO of Bargi police station, Mangal Singh Dhurve informed that during a special campaign against illegal trade and transportation of liquor, police received information about a suspected man who was sight while travelling in a car for transporting illegal liquor stock. Taking prompt action on the information, police started a search and stopped the identified car bearing registration number MP-20CE-8803 in Sukri village.
In the search, police seized 30 crates consisting 1,500 quarters of illegal stock of country-made liquor. The driver named Sonam alias Anil Yadav failed in presenting any document pertaining to transportation of liquor. Bargi police have registered a case under Section 34(2) of Excise Act while further investigations are underway to identify the source of receiving illegal stock of liquor. The accused was apprehended with active working of police team comprised of SI, RK Mishra, Constables, Rahul Bharti, Abhishek Kaurav and Pohap Singh.
