The one and only technical university of Madhya Pradesh Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyala (RGPV) that offer affiliation to around 500 engineering, pharmacy, MCA, architect, diploma institutes across the State, is facing protest from student groups for past ten days. Unfortunately, the university could not resolve the issue of students that is attracting the youth political wings and police persons towards the campus every day. Talking to ‘The Hitavada’ over phone, Dr Vinay Thapar, University Institute of Technology (UIT) Director in-charge said, “Two groups of students clashed. We have informed about this to the proctor board and further process is going on to take action against the students involved in such controversy. Notices have been also issued to the 20 accused and they have been asked to present before anti-ragging committee on December 27.
 
Every day, student groups are being sighted with argument, manhandling in the campus. However university management has slapped notice to 20 students and asked them to be present before the anti-ragging committee on December 27. Gandhi Nagar Police station has also lodged case against 7 students in this regards. Sources said that National Students Union of India (NSUI) and Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) is also active in the university campus due to which student clash is being reported often. Controversy started on September 4 from university hostel where two groups were manhandled. Next day on September 5, a group filed complaint with anti-ragging committee of University Grants Commission (UGC). Students alleged that third year students (around 15 students) beaten up a second year student. After 25 days of the incident, university suspended the accused and also charged penalty.
 
Next month in October, another incident was reported in which a student filed complaint of being ragged. According to students, recently on December 20, a senior students allegedly beaten up his junior subordinate in APJ hostel and again on December 21, another senior student manhandled with other students in-front of UIT circle during afternoon hours. Junior students complaint that clash and manhandle by seniors is continued for past ten days. Adarsh Shukla, who is also a member of ABVP, said that senior are beating up their junior subordinate and everyday controversy is being created in the campus. (Contd on page 2)
