“A huge rally has been organised at Nagpur to celebrate the foundation day of the Congress party on December 28 at 2 pm at Dighori. We have named the venue, Dighori ground, as ‘Bharat Jodo Maidan’. We feel proud as the Congress high command has chosen Nagpur for the celebration of the 138th foundation day of this great party. There is an excitement and happiness among the Congress workers in Maharashtra. The theme of this Maharally is 'Hai Taiyaar Hum’,” Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee chief Nana Patole informed mediapersons at Patrakar Club of Nagpur on Monday. Mallikarjun Kharge, Congress National President, Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi will grace the rally, he said. All Congress Chief Ministers, party’s State Presidents, Leaders of Opposition, Congress Working Committee members and thousands of office-bearers and lakhs of Congress workers will participate in this rally.

Patole said that in December 1920, Mahatma Gandhi raised the slogan of non-cooperation against the tyrannical British rule at Nagpur. Finally, in 1947, the British had to leave India. Nagpur is central to the country. It was from Nagpur that Indiraji Gandhi was announced as the National President in 1959. The fact that the 138th foundation day of Congress is being celebrated in the city of Nagpur, which has such a historical background, is a matter of pride for the party workers, Patole added. The issues which Congress would raise in this Maharally are justice to farmers, rising unemployment, issues of youngsters, price hike, running country in democratic way. “Today, a systematic plan is being implemented to end democracy and the constitution, the Bharatiya Janata Party Government has created an unjust system.

The problems of inflation, unemployment, farmers and workers have become dire. It is the responsibility of the Congress party to end this tyrannical system created by the BJP Government, to create a corruption-free India, to create a just India, to create employment, to reduce inflation, to give justice to farmers and workers, to save democracy and the constitution, and for this purpose,” criticised Patole. “People have doubts regarding the EVMs and the Election Commission should take note of it. If people think their vote goes to another party, then that should be considered seriously. If the people are demanding that they should bring back the ballot paper, then the Central Government and the Election Commission should take note of it,” pointed out Patole. Vilas Muttemwar, former Union Minister; Satish Chaturvedi, former Minister; Dr Nitin Raut, former Minister; Adv Abhijit Wanjari, MLC; Dr Wajahat Mirza, MLC; Raja Tidke, General Secretary; Atul Londhe, Chief Spokesperson; Nana Gawande, Vice President, Sandesh Singalkar, General Secretary were present in the press conference.
