IN A spectacular display of skill and determination, international skater Kasturi Tamhankar clinched a total of five medals at the Roller Skating Federation of India’s National Championship that concluded in Chennai on Monday. Tamhankar’s outstanding performance included a silver medal in the men and women mixed relay race, as well as a silver medal in the women’s relay race. She secured a bronze medal in the 10000m point-to-point road race, a bronze in the 10000m track elimination race and a bronze in the 15000m road elimination race.
This achievement follows Tamhankar’s impressive sweep at the 33rd Skating Association of Maharashtra State-Level Championship last month, where she bagged all four gold medals. In November, she proudly represented India at the World Skating Championship in Columbia. Tamhankar was honoured with the prestigious Shiv Chhtrapati Award by Government of Maharashtra in August 2023. Her remarkable journey includes a total of 8 gold, 8 silver, and 9 bronze medals in various authorised national championships, including SGFI, RSFI, and University Nationals. Tamhankar gives the credit of her success to coach Nikhilesh Tabhane, NDRSA Secretary Upendra Varma, and her supportive parents.
