Six teams including 48 students and 14 mentors from Bhilai Institute of Technology (BIT) Durg participated in Grand finale of Smart India Hackathon-2023. BIT has achieved a remarkable benchmark as a team of six exceptional students’ secured victory in the prestigious National-Level Competition Smart India Hackathon-2023. The victorious team Swastik was led by Taru Yadav, whose leadership and technical skills guided the team towards their remarkable achievement. The team consisted of Sujal Pandey, Shashi Diwan, Lalit Kumar, Bhagyashankar Tiwari, Balkrishna Gupta each contributing their unique skills and expertise to the success of the group. Group was mentored by Nitin Pandey who offered practical insights that proved to be instrumental in the team’s journey to success.
 
Prof Chaitali Choudhary, SPOC, SIH-2023 told that the students have developed hardware solution for A robotics device for borewell rescue operation for NDRF which can be a valuable tool to assist in the rescue of individuals who are trapped in a borewell. Model was remotely controlled device equipped with camera and sensor to provide real time data on location and condition having specialised tools that can be used to extract individuals. It is designed to rescue children with ease and without causing any discomforts such as scratching to the walls of the well. Team Swastik attributes their victory to the college management, department heads Dr Arun Kumar Sahu (ETC) and Dr Surekha Bhusnur (EEE), as well as the entire teaching fraternity of BIT Durg.
