Priya Bhave Chittawar, a doctor by profession, has achieved success in the Ironman Championship held in Western Australia. She is the only woman from the State to complete this difficult championship. She ran 42.2 km, swam 3.8 km and cycled 180 km in the championship. It took her 16 hours and 10 minutes to complete all these three tasks. She competed women’s 46 to 50 age group. One thousand women participated in this category. from all over the world 3,000 participants participated in the championship. Till now she has completed four Ironman Championships she has two sons. She treats infertile couples in a private hospital in the city.
Priya said “I had participated in the Full Ironman Championship held in Barcelona two months back, but could not succeed in it, which was disappointing and was not able to make cut-off time during swimming. Then people said that you should take two more years and prepare. I was adamant that I have to complete the said championship this year itself. So she started working hard and focused on swimming. She told that during the Ironman Championship one has to swim in the sea. The effect of wind in the sea is very strong, so I worked on the technique. Practiced swimming in the upper lake. She used to practice swimming 3.8 km by taking five rounds from Shitaldas ki Bagiya to Raja Bhoj’s statue benefited from this and was successful in completing the two hours 20 minutes swim in one hour 52 minutes in the Full Ironman Championship”. Priya had earlier achieved success by participating in three Ironman competitions. In the same year, he completed the Ironman 70.3 Championship held in Astana, Kazakhstan, in which he had to cycle 90 km, run 21 km and swim 1900 meters. Had also completed Goa Ironman.
