Home Guards and Civil Defence celebrated its 77th Foundation Day in a grand ceremony at headquarters, on Wednesday. Chief guest on the occasion was Dr Vishad Tiwari, DIG Home Guards Madhya Pradesh at Office of District Commandant Home Guards Jabalpur. The programme was inaugurated with an attractive march-past presented by the Home Guards and Civil Defence personnel. Addressing the programme, DIG, Dr Vishad Tiwari extended foundation day greetings towards all the officers and personnel and detailed about the achievements of Home Guards and Civil Defence. He applauded the vital role of Home Guards in security of residents and welfare works and appreciated the contribution of Home Guards in peacefully conducting the State Assembly Elections in Madhya Pradesh, Telangana and Rajasthan by maintaining law and order arrangements.
He narrated the contribution of Home Guards in curbing crime, traffic management, law and order maintenance and relief works during natural calamities. It may be noted that selected Home Guard personnel are being given training at Central Training Institute, Mangeli. Trained soldiers impart training to other personnel in all the districts. Ashish Khare, Divisional Commandant Jabalpur, Neeraj Singh Thakur, District Commandant Jabalpur, Vinay Kaithwas, District Commandant, KK Dabral, District Commandant and other officers and personnel of Home Guards Headquarters Jabalpur, Central Training Institute, Jabalpur Division and District were present.
