The daylight murder of Rajput leader and Shri Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena (SRRKS) chief Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi in Jaipur on Tuesday afternoon has sparked protests in several parts of the State, including Bhopal. In protest of Sukhdev’s assassination, Rajputs blocked many district headquarters including Bhopal, Narmadapuram, Shajapur, Rajgarh, Dewas, Dhar, Guna and Burhanpur on Wednesday. People of Rajput community started gathering from 11 am at Jyoti Talkies Square in MP Nagar, in-front of statue of Maharana Pratap against the murder of Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi. Everyone arrived here wearing black clothes. They started protesting on the road and blocked it while shouting slogans.

 

The protest lasted for about two-and-a-half hours, resulting in a traffic jam around MP Nagar intersection. The queue of vehicles reached from Chetak Bridge to ISBT (Inter State Bus Terminal) making it difficult to travel for passengers travelling in city buses. During the traffic jam, vehicle, drivers also clashed with the protesters. In the protest, Karni Sena demanded that the killers be arrested and encountered within 24 hours. Otherwise Karni Sena will hold violent protests across the country. After the police’s advice, when the city buses were allowed to pass, other vehicles also started passing. Karni Sena workers also burnt tires at the intersection, due to which smoke spread across the area. The police extinguished the tires and removed them from the road. During this, there was a heated argument between the police and the youth of Rajput community. Later, the police forcibly took away some youths. ADM Prakash Singh Chauhan also reached the spot during the demonstration.
