Addressing a session organised here by Vidarbha Management Association (VMA), Dr Suresh Pandilwar said that to ensure best performance of a team or an employee, one should focus on skills, knowledge, integrity and tenacity. Pandilwar was expressing his views on the topic - ‘Dynamics of Performance Management’. “It is generally seen that employees spend 10 per cent of their time on improving their work skills, 60 per cent on bringing positive changes, 10 per cent on dealing with negativity and 20 per cent of their time on ineffective things. If we manage the time properly, we can reduce wastage. This saved time can be used for adding or inculcating skills, knowledge, integrity and tenacity for overall performance development in employees,” he observed.

Dr Pandilwar further said that ‘While doing any business, industry, trade, stability and speed of performance growth is important. “Every one should ask himself what is the set of goals he or she wishes to achieve. Make firm and rigorous assessments of set goals. Follow up periodically and ensure that communication with co-workers is not interrupted. Periodically review the set goals. Apart from this, it is equally important to formulate policies for short term, medium term and long term to achieve success,” he explained.

Treating employees well, taking care of their families, focusing on employee training, maintaining a playful environment at work place are some key aspects that play a major role in performance enhancement, he advised. Vidarbha Management Association is a Nagpur-based organisation which meets every Sunday at 10:30 am. It is dedicated to imparting learnings related to management and leadership skills to its members. VMA is a non-profit organisation and is currently in its 20th year of operation.
