The Nagpur branch office of Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) organised a two-day ‘Residential Training Programme for Mentors of Standard Clubs’ formed in schools/colleges on Tuesday and Wednesday in the city. It was organised for mentors from Nagpur, Wardha, Chandrapur and Amravati districts.
Around 52 mentors from different schools and colleges attended the training programme. Highlighting the objectives of the programme and explaining the activities of BIS, Hemant B Ade, Scientist E / Director and Head, BIS, Nagpur Branch Office, welcomed all the participants and spoke about the initiatives to inculcate the concept of standardisation and quality consciousness among students. He further added that it would prove to be a milestone in developing awareness about quality among the young generation and a quality ecosystem in the country. Ravindra Katolkar, Education Officer (Secondary) Z P, was the chief guest of the function. He addressed the participants and enlightened them about true spirit and function of education system.
During the training, Sandesh Gokanwar, Scientist C / Deputy Director BIS, Nagpur, steered through over view of BIS and its activities. He discussed about the various activities of the bureau which are improving our quality of life especially the scheme for hallmarking of gold, QCOs for mandatory products, etc. Sarvesh Trivedi Scientist C / Deputy Director BIS, Nagpur presented the ‘Concept of Quality and Standards’ in detail. Isha Khurana, Standard Promotion officer BIS, Nagpur, explained the guidelines for the formation of Standard Clubs in detail.
Sanjay Kumar Vishwakarma Scientist B / Assistant Director, BIS, Nagpur explained the science in life of students relating it to classroom activities and curriculum. The programme concluded with distribution of Certificate of Participation to the mentors and obtaining their feedback on programme. The participants appreciated the efforts of BIS along with the intent and content of programme.
