Following bomb attack at canteen area, a large number of NSUI members on Thursday, staged demonstration at Rani Durgavati University (RDU), demanding resignation of the University Vice-chancellor following Wednesday’s incident of hurling of bomb at canteen area. The NSUI workers had to face police action during their protest but it failed to deter them from raising their voice against the rising criminal activities in the campus.
According to District Spokesperson, NSUI, Sachin Rajak, on Wednesday when the security arrangements were quite tight due to arrival of Kamal Patel, Agriculture Minister, Higher Education Minister and Laxman Singh Markam, Joint Secretary to Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister, in the city, a masked man suddenly appeared and hurled a bomb outside canteen while the students were still inside. This shocking incident spread chaos among the students. Against the same incident, hundreds of irked students entered the campus chanting slogans against the University administration. However, police were present in large numbers in the campus and after obstructing the NSUI members from getting entered into the VC office, police engaged in manhandling. As a result, many members received injuries. Rajak alleged that the VC has handed over the canteen to an office-bearer of BJYM without releasing tender. The NSUI demanded to close the canteen immediately and stern action against the guilty person so that a safe atmosphere can be developed. They also warned to stage indefinite dharna if their demands go unheard.
