Nagpur’s well-known Orthopaedician Dr Sanjeev Chaudhary has been nominated on high-level committee of National Health Authority (NHA), part of Health Policy and Quality Assurance Division of Government of India. He has been nominated for his outstanding work in orthopaedics and trauma surgeries. He is only one from Maharashtra and Central India to be on the panel.
NHA constituted Medical Device Technical Advisory Committee- Orthopaedics. The committee plays an important role and is expected to set the specifications and standards for orthopedic implants and devices. The Committee would finalise criteria for companies, manufacturers to be shortlisted or approved for Pradhan Mantri Jan Aarogya Yojana (PMJAY). It will also define the technical specifications for each category of medical devices/implants used under PMJAY.
Responding to his nomination, Dr Chaudhari told ‘The Hitavada’, “I am overwhelmed and feeling honoured for giving me an opportunity. I am thankful to all who chose me for this prestigious post and for showing faith in my capabilities. Such steps are being taken by our Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his colleagues in the ministry which would lead to enhancing the quality of healthcare in our country.”
Dr Chaudhary is acclaimed for his unique project HEATCO. It is he who started video counselling for osteoporosis for the women staying in remote villages. He is Chancellor nominee on Management Council of Maharashtra University of Health Sciences. He is also the Regional Coordinator for Vidarbha Regional Centre of MUHS. His unique concept of BLOSSOM which he designed and planned for screening tribals’ health received wide appreciation. This committee has stalwarts like Prof S C Goel from Health Information Management System (HIMS), Uttar Pradesh; Prof Sameer Agrawal from PGI, Chandigarh; Prof Vijay Kumar Jain from Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Medical Sciences and Ram Manohar Lohiya Hospital, Delhi; Dr R K Arya, Director, Sports Injury Centre, Vardhman Mahavir Medical College and Safdarjung Hospital, Delhi; Dr Sujit Tripathy from AIIMS, Bhubaneshwar; Dr Vijay Sharma, AIIMS, Delhi; Dr S K Marya from Max Hospital Saket, Delhi.
