Jabalpur has been given an opportunity to host the maiden Fencing Competition in the 5th edition of Khelo India Youth Games. Fencing game has been recently given impetus in the country after historic performance of Indian Fencer Bhavani Devi in London Olympics 2022.
State Fencing team has tremendous potentials of improving the ranking of Madhya Pradesh with more medals in Khelo India Games as the State team has six international players who represented the nation in several international competitions. Fencing game was recently introduced in Jabalpur and its upcoming fencer Achin Kaur is representing the State team in Khelo India Games. Madhya Pradesh Fencing Association, Secretary, D K Vidyarthi, while talking to ‘The Hitavada’ informed that hosting the maiden Fencing event by Madhya Pradesh in Jabalpur is a big opportunity to bring a momentum for encouragement to the upcoming players and youngsters for exploring the potentials in Fencing Game.
Vidyarthi added that fencing has recently got popularity in the country after performance of Bhavani Devi in London Olympic Games but a large number of fencing players are being trained at the State Fencing Academy Bhopal. It is good news for the city that training of fencing game was recently started in Jabalpur and one of the upcoming players Anchit Kaur has been selected in the State team.
The State team has six international players in boys team including Aryan Sen, Sanket Sharma, Ustatt Singh, Rupesh Singh Tomar, Ashu Singh Tomar and Bhavya Singh while other team members are Pranay Sharma, Karan Choudhary, Shashwat Katare, Tanishq Bavaskar, Kaushal Kaurav and Ansh Sharaik. State girls team consists Raksha Raja Parmar, Divya Kanwar, Anshika Jadon, Manya Rathore, Rutashi Pandev, Amee Suri, Sakshi Sharma, Anju Raja, Anchit Kaur, Swara Damle, Nayanshi Rajput and Pawni Mandloi.
