State Govt doubles honorarium of Shikshan Sevaks

 

 

There is a good news for Shikshan Sevaks working in primary, secondary, higher secondary and junior colleges run by Zilla Parishad, Municipal Council, Municipal Corporation, etc. as Maharashtra Government and private management have doubled their honorarium. They were getting an honorarium between Rs 6,000 and Rs 9,000 per month for three years. Now they will receive the honorarium between Rs 16,000-Rs 20,000. The increased honorarium is being implemented with effect from January 1, 2023.

Primary and Higher Primary Shikshan Sevaks were receiving Rs 6,000, those working in secondary schools Rs 8,000, while Government was giving Rs 9,000 per month to the Shikshan Sevaks working in higher secondary and junior colleges. Now the honorarium has been increased to Rs 16,000, Rs 18,000 and Rs 20,000 respectively.

Bharatiya Janata Party Shikshak Aaghadi pursued the matter with Government demanding to raise the honorarium. The honorarium was raised in 2011 and then, no rise was registered by a single penny. Anil Mahadevrao Shivankar, Nagpur Divisional President of Aaghadi told ‘The Hitavada’, “We have been pressing the demand for the last 7 years. These Shikshan Sevaks found it difficult to run their families with a meagre amount of honorarium they got. The honorarium was so less that even the Class IV employee of any industry gets more.”

Government had introduced the Shikshan Sevak scheme in the year 2000. Then qualified (SSC, HSC and D.Ed) teachers received Rs 2,500 per month, while untrained ones got Rs 1,500 per month. It was raised to Rs 3,000 and Rs 5,000. The appointment of Shikshan Sevaks is for three years. After a period of three years, as per the performance, the Shikshan Sevaks get regular posting. As no Government in State was raising the honorarium of Shikshan Sevaks, BJP Shikshak Aaghadi pressed the demand aggressively. Now the present Government of Eknath Shinde and Devendra Fadnavis increased the honorarium. Anil Shivankar, Dr Ulhas Phadke and Dr Kalpana Pande thanked Government for the decision of increasing honorarium.
