Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examination (Class X) being conducted by Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education will begin on Thursday. This year, there are no ‘Home Centres’ while the Board has identified 682 centre for the examination, which will conclude on March 25. The students whose session starts at 11 am will have to reach their respective rooms by 10.30 am, while those appearing at 3 pm should have to be at the centre by 2.30 pm. Students reaching after distribution of the question papers will be prohibited from entering the centre. Education Department has taken several steps to have error-free, copy-free examinations for which the responsibility have been entrusted with District Collectors. If any case of mass copying or unfair means found during examinations, the Centre Heads, Headmaster or teachers concerned would be held responsible and action would be taken against them.
The photocopy centres situated in 100 meters vicinity of examination centres will not be allowed to function to avoid the attempt from any miscreants regarding circulation of question papers or other illegal activities.
Some students go into depression during examination. To help students overcome negativity, the Board has appointed 10 counsellors who will guide students, if needed. Students or parents are not expected to ask counsellors about examination details like examination centre, sitting arrangement or examination system. Numbers of the counsellors are available on the official website of Board. The Board has appointed 271 flying squads in Nagpur division area. Apart from these flying squads, a vigilant committee has been constituted under District Collector. Board has requested Divisional Commissioner, District Collector and Chief Executive Officer to pay sudden visits to examination centres. Board members and government officials also are expected to visit the centres and conduct inspection.
If a student fails to appear in practicals, oral, class improvement examinations, internal assessment on medical ground or for any other reason, a special examination for such students will be conducted between March 27 and March 29. The special examination will be held on Out of Turn basis. The supplementary examination will be held in July-August and their results too should be announced immediately, so that the students should not lose academic year.
