A TROOPER belonging to Chhattisgarh Armed Forces (CAF) attained martyrdom after coming under impact of
an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast, allegedly triggered by outlaws on a forested patch between Timenar and Etepal under Mirtur police station limits of restive Bijapur. The incident took place on Monday morning.
As per police sources, the martyred trooper has been identified as Vijay Yadav, Assistant Platoon Commander (APC) of 19th CAF battalion (D Company). As per information, a squad of the CAF personnel from Etepal camp was out to provide security cover at a road construction site, about one kilometre away from Etepal. Meanwhile, Assistant Platoon Commander Vijay Yadav inadvertently stepped on an IED, leading to a blast. The impact of the blast was so severe that APC Yadav succumbed to injuries on the spot. Other CAF personnel reported about the incident to higher authorities. A native of Baliya in Uttar Pradesh, Vijay Yadav was currently residing at Dharampura, Jagdalpur.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has expressed profound grief over martyrdom of Chhattisgarh Armed Forces Assistant Platoon Commander Vijay Yadav. The Chief Minister has denounced the Naxalites’ cowardly deed, describing it as ‘sad’. The Chief Minister has also extended his solidarity with Yadav’s bereaved family members.
