Cheetah ‘Oban’ strayed out of Kuno National Park and entered to Shivpuri district for the second time. The cheetah was sighted in Jaurai village under Barad area of Shivpuri district on Sunday. Earlier on April 6, Oban was rescued from the same Barad area. Local villagers informed forest team about the cheetah movement. Cheetah task force and forest team is monitoring the cat. District Forest Officer (DFO) Prakash Verma said that cheetah will not be rescued. Manual efforts will be made to bring back the cat in Kuno. According to local villagers, a cheetah was sighted on Sunday morning (around 8) on main road.
Farmers securing their crops in the field got scared and climbed upon the houses. Villagers claimed that they have informed forest department about cheetah movement. Forest team reached to the spot after villagers informed about the movement. Team has been assigned the village to keep an eye on cheetah and track him further. Officials said that they are tracking cat with the help of radio collar. They said his movement was track on Shivpuri border and then team started following the cheetah. They said senior forest officials are aware of his movement. DFO Prakash Verma said that team is monitoring the cheetah silently. He said cheetah might be returning to Kuno by night or morning hours. He said they have not planned to rescue the cat as he would be in stress. He also appealed villagers to calm down and do not get panic.
He said that cheetah never attack human being so they are suggested to stay away instead of interfering the cheetah way. On April 6, Oban was rescued from Barad area. He stayed out of Kuno National Park for five days. During these five days, his movement was recorded in in Sheopur, Sabalgarh and Barad area.
