Conveying the message of compassion and brotherhood, Eid-ul-Fitr was celebrated with all enthusiasm and festivity by Muslim community marking the end of the fasting month of Ramzan on Saturday. People from Muslim community extended their best wishes and warm greetings on the occasion of Meethi Eid. People wore new clothes, prepared special dishes and did charity. Right from Saturday morning, people started extending Eid wishes by hugging each other. Following the same, Mufti-e-Azam, Madhya Pradesh, Ahmad Siddiqui while addressing the huge gathering of believers, said that the festival of Eid-ul-Fitr is usually celebrated on the first day of Shawwal, the tenth month of the Islamic calendar, after the new moon is sighted.
He expressed that all festivals are celebrated with great enthusiasm and communal harmony in Jabalpur and wished that the healthy tradition would continue in future as well. He appealed the followers not to give attention towards the communal forces which try to create rift and destroy the peaceful atmosphere in the society. As his health didn’t allow him to talk much, hence he expressed his feelings in limited words. Mufti-e-Azam Siddiqui did not forget to extend his gratitude towards the Chief Minister and district administration for ensuring uninterrupted supply of electricity, drinking water, cleanliness and other facilities during the festival.
Following which, the followers offered Eid-ul-Fitr ki Namaaz. Many political and social personalities including MLA, Lakhan Ghanghoria, MLA Vinay Saxena, Mayor, Jagat Bahadur Singh, MLA DDinesh Yadav, Mukesh Rathore, Manoj Seth, Pankaj Pandey, Vishnu Vinodiya and other Congress leaders also visited the Idgah premise to extended Eid wishes. Superintendent of Police, Tusharkant Vidyarthi and Additional Collector, Sher Singh Meena also exchanged Eid wishes in the Idgah.
