Govt studying feasibility of reducing stamp duty: Fadnavis

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Sunday said the State Government will explore options to reduce stamp duty charges for registrations of property transactions. “With an aim to boost the real estate sector in the State, we will study the possibility to cut the stamp duty in coming days,” he said while speaking at the installation ceremony of new team of CREDAI Nagpur Metro held here at Hotel Centre Point in the city. Nagpur Municipal Commissioner Radhakrishna B; and District Collector Dr Vipin Itankar were guests of honour on the occasion.
Fadnavis said that the Government will also take positive steps and resolve issues related to transfer of development rights (TDR).
Fadnavis highlighted that Nagpur is among the top rapidly developing cities in the country. “Nagpur will be the first city in the country to have all its main roads concretised and all the roads will be pothole free. We are also launching new system for solid waste management system for which the Nagpur Municipal Corporation has already signed a memorandum of understanding with the Swedish company. Similarly, the Government is working on an ambitious projects to make Nagpur logistic capitol of the country. All these factors will certainly create demand in real estate sector,” he observed. Fadnavis appealed to the builders and developers to make Nagpur a sustainable and environmental friendly city make it a global city. In his address, President of CREDAI Nagpur Metro Gaurav Agarwala expressed gratitude towards the Government for launching new sand mining policy. “It will help the real estate sector get sand at a reasonable pricing which will eventually bring down the cost of households,” he said.
Agarwala said the new infrastructure projects and Samruddhi Mahamarg will create additional demand for households.
Secretary of the body Ekalawya Wasekar proposed the formal vote of thanks and said that he along with other team members comprises of Treasurer Ashish Londhe, Vice Presidents Chandrashkehar Khune, Hemal Nadiyana, Jethanand Khandwani, Vijay Singh Thakur, Joint Secretaries - Abhishek Javery, Pratish Gujarathi, Tarak Chawla, Vijay Joshi and Executive Members will take the legacy forward to take CREDAI Nagpur Metrol to newer height.
