NAGPUR’S Sanskar Gaigore led the pack with full six points at end of the sixth round of All India Open Below 1600 FIDE Rating Chess Tournament at 7 Vachhan Hall in Wardhaman Nagar on Sunday. The event is being hosted by Jai Sai Welfare Foundation. In the sixth round on Day 2 of the national tourney, playing with white pieces, Sanskar outwitted Aahana Pachchigar on second board to keep his slate clean.
A host of players including city’s Nilay Kulkarni and Mradul Yadav followed sole leader Sanskar with 5.5 points in their kitty. Nilay split point with Aradhya Tikam (5.5) on the top board while Mradul outsmarted Telangana’s Jayanth Suravarapu (4.5) in the sixth round. Uttar Pradesh’s Abhishek Kumar Mishra and Saket Atul Kumar of Madhya Pradesh were the other players with 5.5 points.
