RAIPUR,
Sainath, Secretary of the Communist Party of India (Maoist) Darbha Division Committee in a press release issued has claimed the responsibility for the attack on the District Reserve Guard (DRG) troopers on April 26. The Secretary claimed that the People's Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA) carried out a counter-attack near Aranpur, resulting in the death of 10 District Reserve Guard (DRG) members and a civilian driver. He also claimed that as per primary reports some police personnel are also believed to be injured in the attack.
The press release further states that the Union Home Minister, Amit Shah, has launched a campaign to eradicate the Maoist party before the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. In response to the government's decision to hand over natural resources to corporate houses, they are planning to abolish the revolutionary movement going on in the Bastar region. The area has been converted into a military cantonment, with numerous types of paramilitary forces, such as NSG, DRG, and commando forces like Cobra deployed in the region. These forces carry out atrocities, murders, arrests, and property looting, resembling acts they commit in foreign territories. They even conduct airstrikes on their own people, and the public has no other option but to resist, the press release added.
The PLGA's latest attack was carried out in protest, and the public has been suffering from brutal attacks daily. The DRG's illiterate recruitment criteria, which prioritizes lumpen forces and traitors, has worsened the situation. The police are being used as tools, and the government's policies have increased the gap between the rich and the poor. Governments have stopped appointments in other departments except the police, compelling educated youth to join police jobs to support their families. The public's demands for justice are met with oppression from central and state governments, resulting in continuous struggles. The oppressed people in the country and the world are fighting for their just demands, and the youth are encouraged to join the struggle against the government instead of joining the police. The repression by the governments only leads to increased resistance from the public. The Bastar region is an integral part of India, and the public demands that the government shut down the air raids on the residents in the area, Sainath demanded.
