A new body Institute of Town Planners, India (ITPI) Maharashtra Regional Chapter (MRC), Nagpur was elected recently. Sujit Rodge, also a Council Member of ITPI, was elected as its Chairman. Sanjay Barai was elected as Secretary and Ashish Nagpurkar as its Treasurer. The other executive members elected are Ashok Waghaye, Vilas Bakde, Parag Date, Pramod Gawande, Pankaj Bahadure and Vandana Khante. Jagdish Rajurkar was elected as the Chapter Building Committee Chairman. Sarika Bahadure is Women’s Cell Chairperson. Vijay Kapse is Immediate past Chairman. Minal Surawar and Jaykrishnan Pillai are the members of various committees. In its first meeting, newly elected Chairman, Sujit Rodge motivated the team to become more active and dedicate themselves for the cause of meaningful urban development.
ITPI is committed to promote planned and sustainable urban development, it provides platform for raising various concerns in present city planning practices. Throughout the year, ITPI MRC Nagpur conducts various programmes in the form of seminars, workshops, exhibitions and events for town planning students to highlight the current trends related to urban planning.
ITPI is a professional body of more than 6000 town planners with headquarters at New Delhi, with Dr D S Meshram as its National President. ITPI has 26 regional chapters across India. The vision of ITPI is to promote dynamic, inclusive and integrated town and country planning practice, education, research and institutional mechanism for vibrant sustainable and resilient spatio-economic development of towns, cities and regions.
