Narsinghpur district headquarters was filled with religious fervour on the occasion of immersion of 751 Jawara Ghat Kalash. Devotees from many districts queued up for hours in one km long procession started from Sadar Madhia complex. Jawara Samiti, oldest public collective of the city, started the procession of Jawara Visarjan from Sadar Madhiya premises from around 8 am on Tuesday morning. Apart from acrobats of akhadas across the city in front row, women, girls and adolescent girls carrying 751 Ghatkalash with tableaux on their heads were the center of attraction.
Behind them the charming statue of Matarani and devotees from all over the district, members of religious-cultural committees were walking. The procession started at 8 am from Sadar Madhiya complex, passing through Municipal Square, Subhash Park Square, old bus stand area, Gurudwara, Sarafa, Gudri Bazar area, Sunka Square, LIC Tirahe to Putri Shala, Main Road to Subhash Park Square. It took about 9 hours to complete the journey of about 4 km procession inside the city. Wrestlers and students of akhadas gave goosebumps demonstrations of traditional weapons and weapons including weaving. Immersed in the ecstasy of devotion, devotees attracted attention of people by piercing various parts of the body from the mouth, cheeks. Wherever this procession passed, they were welcomed with soft drinks, juices and syrups. Devotees spontaneously sprinkled water to keep the entire journey cool, so that feet of goddesses walking with pots on their heads do not get hot due to the heat on the road.
A large number of youth, children, elders arrived from Kareli, Gotegaon, Gadarwara, Tendukheda tehsils besides the city and surrounding villages to participate in the procession. In the evening, these Jawara Ghatkalash was taken by vehicles to Barman on the Narmada coast for immersion.
Biggest event in the district is Jawara Ghat Kalash Visarjan procession taken out at the district headquarters during Chaitra Navratri. Police and administration made arrangements on a wide scale. For this, apart from both police station areas of the city, police force was also called from other police stations. A large number of Home Guard personnel were deployed on various routes. Police personnel were walking with the procession from beginning till its conclusion. Two-wheeler, four-wheeler vehicles were not allowed to enter the routes so that there is no hindrance in travel and no one faced any difficulty. Leaders of all political parties, people’s representatives and workers, political and social organisations, youth were seen participating shoulder to shoulder in the procession of Jawara Ghat Kalash.
Everyone has made arrangements for quenching thirst of the devotees on different routes. All are seen coloured in colours of religious gaiety and are drenched in devotion of Matarani. Members of Sarvajanik Jawara Samiti are also holding the front. As the procession progressed, volunteers were seen cleaning the streets and cleaned the route.
Press Club Narsinghpur also participated by welcoming the procession at Subhash Chauraha. About a dozen floating tableaux are enthralling devotees in the procession. In this festive atmosphere of devotion, entire city turned devotional. Tableaux of various gods and goddesses in moving tableaux, children in costumes, youths, deities of girls were the main attraction.
