In a major breakthrough, sleuths of Customs Circle Jabalpur nabbed two accused and seized 1,700-grams foreign gold biscuits amounting to Rs 1.07 crore from them at Jabalpur Railway Station, on Saturday. According to the Customs Circle Office Jabalpur, acting on a specific intelligence Customs Commissioner, Sameer Chitkara constituted a team Customs Circle Jabalpur to intercept the two identified men engaged in illegal transportation of precious commodity in train number 11448 Shaktipunj Express from Howrah to Jabalpur. Continuing a thorough search, combine team of Customs and Rail Protection Force detained the two suspects at Jabalpur Railway Station. In their search, the team seized 15 foreign gold biscuits weighing around 1,700 grams amounting to Rs 1.07 crore.
Customs Department arrested both the accused under provisions of Customs Act 1962 while further investigations are underway to find the route of supplying foreign gold stock and to identify and apprehend the other persons working in the network of illegal transportation of commodity.
