In a devastating incident that took place on Sunday, a fire broke out in the cotton ginning section of Unique Trading Company, located in Waroda village on Kalmeshwar-Saoner Road in the district. The incident occurred around 3.30 pm, and the bales of cotton worth crores of rupees kept in the godown were gutted. The employees working in the company were left in shock, and an uproar ensued to get cotton wagons out of the ginning area.

Kalmeshwar Municipality Fire Department was informed about the incident, but they stated that there was no driver for the fire truck. Repeated attempts were made to contact the fire department of Nagpur and Saoner, but to no avail.

Finally, the fire department of Kalmeshwar Municipality reached the spot with a fire tender and started efforts to control the fire. Unique Trading Company is located in Waroda village, and this company buys cotton bales from private cotton ginning companies and manufactures yarn from it. More than 50 employees are working in this company, police said. Due to the sudden fire, cotton worth crores of rupees and the company’s machinery was burnt. Company owner Asif Ansari said that there were two sheds of the company in the premises, and regular work was going on.

When the process of making yarn from cotton bales was going on, smoke started coming out from the shed suddenly. As soon as fire was noticed, everyone started noticed, everyone started running. The fire was raging until the municipal fire brigade reached the scene. The cause of the fire is believed to be a short-circuit or spark during ginning. Police Sub-Inspector Pali of Kalmeshwar Police Station reached the spot as soon as the incident was notified. Efforts to bring the fire under control began. Everyone was struggling to put out the fire, said police.The Fire Department will probe whether the company was having functional firefighting equipment. Authorities will also investigate the cause of the fire.
