The family of Martyr Deepak Bhardwaj, who sacrificed his life for the country during a Naxal operation in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district on April 3, 2021, is both saddened by the loss of their son and proud of his martyrdom for the service of the nation. Despite the grief and sorrow, the family expressed their gratitude for the love, respect,
and support they received from various officials and people’s representatives following their son’s sacrifice. Martyr Deepak Bhardwaj’s father shared that his son’s martyrdom left him broken, but he is proud that his son sacrificed his life to free Chhattisgarh and the country from Naxalism. President Draupadi Murmu honoured Martyr Deepak Bhardwaj with the Kirti Chakra on May 9, 2023, for his indomitable courage and devotion to duty. The family, including his mother and wife, received the award from the President.
To commemorate his sacrifice, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel visited Martyr Deepak Bhardwaj’s home village in Pihrid and paid his respects to the family. The Chief Minister also announced the naming of the local high school after the martyr. During the operation, sub-inspector Deepak Bhardwaj showed bravery and quick thinking in defending his team against fierce firing from the Naxalites. He prioritized getting his comrades to safety and lost his life while doing so. Martyr Deepak Bhardwaj was a promising student who excelled in academics and sports. He graduated from Chitani Mitani Dubey College and Guru Ghasidas University Bilaspur before joining the Chhattisgarh Police as a Sub Inspector in 2013.
