Finally, after a gap of one year since the full-time Vice-Chancellors demitted offices, Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University (YCMOU) and Kavikulguru Kalidas Sanskrit University (KKSU) got new fulltime heads. Dr Sanjeev Sonawane has been appointed as Vice-Chancellor (V-C) of YCMOU and Prof Hare Ram Tripathi as new V-C of KKSU.
The Governor of Maharashtra and Chancellor of Universities Ramesh Bais has made these appointments. The tenure of Prof Shrinivasa Varakhedi, who steered the KKSU to new height, ended almost a year ago. Similarly, the term of Prof E Vayunandan as Vice-Chancellor of YCMOU ended on March 7, 2022. In place of Prof Varakhedi, a scholar like Dr Madhusudan Penna was given additional charge. He also took some new initiatives at KKSU.
At YCMOU, the charge of Vice-Chancellor was given to Dr Prashantkumar Patil, Vice-Chancellor, Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth. Prof Sonawane has been serving as the Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Additional Charge) of the Savitribai Phule Pune University. Prof Sonawane is known as a good academician as well as a strict administrator. Prof Hare Ram Tripathi is presently serving as the Vice-Chancellor of the Sampurnanand Sanskrit University, Varanasi. Prof Tripathi began his career from Central Sanskrit University. Then he worked as Professor, Dean and Head of the Department at Lal Bahadur Shasrti University. Prof Tripathi has a wide experience of teaching, research and university administration. He is a scholar of internationally repute for Nyayshastra and Sanskrit.
