Six students from district in Top 10 of merit list

Six meritorious students from Jabalpur district claimed a place for themselves in the State-level Top-10 merit list in classes X and XII Board results announced by Madhya Pradesh Board of Secondary Education on Thursday. Out of six students, 04 were enlisted in class XII State-level merit list, while remaining two were in class X State-level merit list. Raj Singh from Biology stream in Tania Convent Higher Secondary School Patan secured 4th rank in State-level merit list by scoring 482 out of 500 marks. Dev Kumar Chourasia from Commerce stream of Salem English Medium HS School, Khitola, Shivang Namdeo (Commerce) from Government Pandit Lajja Shankar Jha Model HS Excellence School and Yash Kumar Thakur (Commerce) from Guru Gobind Singh Khalsa HS School, VFJ shared 10th position in the State-level merit list.
Similarly, 02 students who were enlisted in class X State-level Merit List included Sameer Patel from Mahakoshal Higher Secondary School who scored 488 out of total 500 marks to occupy 7th rank while Vanshika Jain from Salem English Medium Higher Secondary School obtained 10th in the list by scoring 450 out of 500 marks. Sameer and Vanshika received first and second position in the district-level merit list. However, in comparison to previous year, Jabalpur’s overall results of classes X and XII were far beyond satisfaction. As only 58.14 percent succeeded in class X while in class XII only 49% students qualified. Last year’s history of disappointing results in both the Classes, repeated itself as Jabalpur district obtained 40th and 41st place at the State-level in classes X and XII respectively.
The top-three scorers in District-level Class XII Merit list included Deepali Mishra from St. Thomas Higher Secondary School and Shubh Tiwari from Guru Gobind Singh Khalsa (English Medium)HS School, VFJ who topped the list with 94.80%. similarly, the second position was jointly claimed by Anushree Upadhyay from Abbot Baeten School, Maharajpur, Jasmeen Behna from Government Yashoda Bai Girl’s HS School, Sihora and Sudeep Patel from Saraswati HS School Ranjhi with 94.60% while Anjali Kachhi from Government Pandit Lajja Shankar Jha Model HS Excellence School and Uday Kanojiya from Government Pandit Lajja Shankar Jha Model HS Excellence School obtained 94.40% to occupy third position, respectively.
While the District-level merit list of class X was topped by Shaksham Namdeo from Kshitij Model High School, Dhanwantri Nagar who obtained 484 out of 500 marks, while Avneesh Dubey from Nachiketa HS School Napier Town and Pawni Gupta from Salem English Medium School, Khitola claimed second and third positions with 483 and 481 marks respectively. It may be mentioned that a total of 22,978 students appeared in class X out of whom 13,306 students qualified the examination, 7,161 students failed while 2,416 obtained supplementary. The overall passing percentage of Jabalpur district remained 58.14% in Class X. Whereas, a total of 19,213 students appeared in class XII Board Examination out of whom 9,396 students passed, 7,183 failed while 2,629 obtained supplementary. Hence the overall passing percentage in Class XII remained 48.91%.
