State General Secretary of BJP Mahila Morcha, Ashwini Paranjpe while addressing a press conference, on Sunday said “The initiation of Ladli Bahna Yojana aims to bring about a positive transformation in the lives of eligible young girls and women across the State.” She said more than 1.25 crores registered women will start receiving a monthly sum of Rs 1000 directly in their bank accounts from June 10. The scheme caters to women between the ages of 23 and 60 years, encompassing married women, widows, divorced individuals and those who have been abandoned. Paranjpe expressed gratitude towards the trust shown by the women through their overwhelming registration numbers, emphasising the significance of this programme in empowering women and preserving their self-esteem.
She said as part of the initiative, the formation of Ladli Bahna Senas (brigades) will take place in all villages, consisting of 21 members in larger villages and 11 members in smaller villages. She said earlier, the State Government had introduced a scheme to provide monthly assistance of Rs 1000 to special backward tribes, namely Bega, Saharia and Bharia, enabling them to purchase essential items such as fruits, milk, vegetables and other household necessities.
Taking a dig at Congress, Paranjpe highlighted the bleak situation faced by women during their regime. She said during the time, women were burdened and the gender ratio was distressing. Crimes against women reached alarming levels. Women were confined to their homes, faced hardships associated with childbirth. Poor families struggled with the burden of their daughters' marriages. Employment opportunities were scarce, decision-making authority was absent and women's health and nutrition were neglected. Additionally, child marriage rates exceeded 57 percent.
Paranjpe also shed light on the fake promises made by the Congress party to women. She said prior to the 2018 elections, it was pledged that the price of a gas cylinder would be reduced by Rs 100. However, Congress failed to fulfill this commitment. In States like Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh, where the Congress was in power, gas cylinders were not made available for Rs 500.
