Patients who approached different Government hospitals for receiving treatment for their health issues, had to return empty handed on Tuesday. Thanks to the doctors who halted their duties for two-hours to put pressure on the State Government to fulfill their demands. Intensifying their protest for three-point demands, the doctors of all the Government hospitals halted all the healthcare and OPD services for two hours on Tuesday. It may be mentioned that Dynamic Assured Career Progression (DACP) is the top-most demand of doctors who also demanded to re-enforce old pension scheme and check interference of non-medical officers in administrative and medical-related activities. On Monday also, the doctors in Jabalpur district staged symbolic strike as a part of State-wide protest under the banner of Combined Doctors Association.
They attended their duties tying black bands. It was their first phase of protest to intimidate the higher authorities to fulfill their demands or be prepared to face the consequences. Doctors from all the government hospitals including Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Medical Hospital, Seth Govinddas District Hospital, Rani Durgavati Hospital, Civil Hospital Ranjhi and all health centres in rural areas actively participated in the strike on Tuesday by putting their works on halt for two hours.
If the government refuses to fulfill their demand, the doctors will go on indefinite strike from May 3, 2023. Different medical organizations including Indian Medical Association renders its full support to the doctors.
