TARUN Vats of Wainganga College of Physical Education, Sakoli, won gold medal in Greco-Roman wrestling category in the ongoing Khelo India University Games in Uttar Pradesh. Vats, representing Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU), won the gold medal in the men’s category defeating Ravi of JKU University.
Ravi won the silver medal while Ram Pravesh of VBSPU had to settle for the bronze medal. At the same competition, Pushkar Sharat of Indutai College of Physical Education, bagged the bronze medal in the 97 kgs weight category.
In free style category, Khushi Rani Singh, a student of Deshmukh College of Physical Education, won the silver medal. JCPE’s Rohit bagged a bronze medal in the 125kg men’s event. The badminton team made a winning with women’s doubles pair of Pritha Dekate and Sophia Simon recording win. In swimming, Yash Gulhane had to settle for the sixth position in the 100m breaststroke. RTMNU’s Sports and Physical Education Director Dr Sharad Suryawanshi, Vice-Chancellor Dr Subhash Chaudhary, Pro-VC Dr Sanjay Dudhe, Registrar Dr Raju Hiwase congratulated all.
